Industrial Designer / Engineer / Innovator
DIY KYOTO are looking for an Industrial Designer/Engineer/Innovator to aid the development of DIY KYOTO’s next range of products.
Key skills include:
- Good sketching ability
- Strong conceptual skills
- Good knowledge of sustainable design
- 3D rendering
- Design for manufacture
- Good CAD skills (Solidworks preferred)
- Good Communication Skills (Visual, written and spoken)
The successful candidate will support DIY Kyoto’s product development team, particularly with the development of new product concepts from initial conception to final liaison with tooling manufacturers in China. This is an opportunity to see the whole product development process from beginning to end.
Candidate must both enjoy working as part of a team in a busy environment and also be able to get on with tasks independently when things are quiet. Position will particularly suit people able to use their own initiative to push projects forward and who can create their own role within the team.

Work Placement
DIY KYOTO is a sustainable product design, manufacturing and wholesale company searching for experienced people to work alongside the design team. We expect every applicant to have excellent PC(or MAC) skills, be confident, outgoing and know their business! If you think you are up to any of these jobs contact Jon with your CV.
DIY KYOTO run a placement scheme for industrial and product design students. If you wish to apply for a position please contact us with examples of work and your course requirements. Industrial / Product Design
Get hands on experience in a small design studio working directly with the designers and production team. You will see all aspects of the job from product development and production to exhibitions and marketing. You must not be afraid of hard work and you must be versatile and creative. email Jon (mention your strengths!)
Graphic Design
This is your opportunity to work on all aspects of product and promotional development alongside the design team: Pack graphics, web graphics, flyers, catalogues, products, events… This is a great opportunity to spend time in a real working environment with real deadlines and high expectations! email Greta (mention your PC skills)

Work Experience
If you are a student and would like to have some hands on experience during the summer holidays in our product design studio then please apply to STUDENT
STUDENTS WE TAKE ON:

We have 2-4 weeks placements (it can be extended depending on your performance). We provide reference and some travel money.
You will work in a lot of areas from graphic design, product design to building shows to marketing events etc. We are very busy at the moment and take on students who are willing to muck in. We get several enquiries every week and regret that not every applicant can be successful! So make sure your application stands out and tell us why you are the one for the job!
